EPIC Instructor Training

Background to the course
Increasingly plant operators are required to prove their competence to nationally agreed and recognised competence standards. Additionally, plant instructors are also required to demonstrate that they carry out instruction and training to nationally agreed schemes. This course provides the essential skills and knowledge required by Mobile Plant operator trainers to enable them to meet the requirements of such schemes.
 
Who should attend?
To qualify for entry on to the course, delegates:

Must have a current operators licence achieved through a recognised competence assessment route. (Current means no more than 5 years old)

Must be over the age of 21

Must have a minimum of 3 years operational experience on at least one item of plant and a minimum of 2 years operational experience for all other items that instruction is to be carried out on. Experience must have been gained within the last 4 years.
 
Course objectives
At the end of the course participants will have developed skills in instructional techniques to enable them to communicate information clearly and effectively and be able to pass on skills and competence to others to meet the demands of national occupational standards for plant operators.
 
Course content covering but not confined to:
 o Identify training needs
o Analyse tasks and prepare aids for instruction
o Conduct training instruction sessions clearly and effectively
o Recognise and overcome barriers to communication and learning
 
Course structure and delivery methods
The four day course is structured as follows:A 3 day session with exercises in a lecture room and working environment. At the end course participants will be required to produce training plans and instructional notes relevant to plant operations. Following completion of the post-course activity on the third day they will be assessed delivering training for tasks associated mobile plant operations The successful completion of this assessment will lead to be award on the EPIC Plant Operator Instructor Certificate and will be valid for five years.
 
The units L11 & L12 can also now be offered to be incorporated within this course.
