QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE MINING INDUSTRY
The Mineral Products Qualifications Council offers a range of qualifications specifically designed for the mining industry. These have been developed with the assistance of the mining industry to meet the needs of the modern industry.
Currently the following National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) are available:
• Supervision of Underground Mining Operations (Level 3)
• Mining Operations (Level 2)
• Mining Operations (Level 3)
Other qualifications available and applicable to the surface operations of a mine include:
• Plant Operations (Extractives) NVQ Level 2
• Processing Operations for the Extractive and Minerals Processing Industries NVQs Levels 1, 2, 3
• Weighbridge Operations NVQ level 2
• Certificate in Extraction and Mineral Processing, VRQ Levels 2 or 3
Currently under development are qualifications for:
• Mine Management
• Mine Technical Operations
• Mines Rescue Operations
