Background to the Course
Working at height can be dangerous, not only for those carrying out the work, but for others in the vicinity. For example, in construction falls from height account for more deaths and serious injuries than any other causes and in addition, many people are seriously injured each year by objects falling from height. Many of these deaths and serious injuries could be avoided if those carrying out and supervising the work are aware of the hazards involved and the precautions that can be taken to minimise the risk of harm, in even what appear to be the simplest of jobs.
