Background to the Course
Processing plants can be very busy places, with interaction between vehicles and people, visitors, contractors and employees on site, machinery and equipment in operation, hazardous substances in use and a range of potentially dangerous processes being undertaken. Site safety needs to be properly managed to minimise risk.
Supervisors at all levels have a crucial role in workplace health and safety management and, as first line managers at the interface between senior management and the workforce, can make a significant contribution to improving safety performance.
This course is intended to provide a basic foundation in workplace safety management for supervisors in processing plants. Course members will gain an increased awareness of general health and safety issues and sufficient knowledge, and some of the skills they require to supervise safety. The course is participative and interactive and course members will have ample opportunity to share their own experiences and discuss particular issues under the guidance of the trainer.
