Supervising Safety in Quarries

Background to the Course

Quarrying is a hazardous activity which has a poor safety record according to HSE statistics over the last few years.  The introduction of the Quarries Regulations 1999 and the commitment of employers to improve workplace safety standards require a proactive approach to the management of health and safety in the workplace.  Supervisors at all levels, irrespective of organisational structure, have an important role as first line managers.  This course has been designed to provide quarry operations supervisors with an increased awareness of general health and safety issues and sufficient knowledge and some of the skills they require to supervise management of health and safety in quarries.  It has been designed and developed through consultation with a number of EPIC member companies and can be customised to incorporate individual company’s particular requirements.  The course provides partial coverage of the Health and Safety knowledge requirements of the NVQ in Health, Safety and Environmental Management in Quarries.

Who Should Attend?
